CURES FOR ANXIETY ATTACKS
Under modern day stressful circumstances, anxiety attacks are a common phenomenon. Unbelievable as it may sound, almost everyone undergoes
anxiety attacks at one point or the other because this is actually a natural reaction of our body when it experiences physical danger of any
sort. This is also known as the fight-or-flight reflex. An anxiety attack causes our breathing and heartbeat to increase which in turn pumps more
blood to all parts of our body and as a result we become hyper-sensitive to our surroundings because of this.
Emotionally as well, anxiety attacks are not that uncommon. Everyone has had the proverbial butterflies in their stomach while taking an exam,
preparing to give a speech or in other such similar situations.
It is only when these regular day-to-day anxiety attacks surpass the limits of normalcy that we think that it is time to worry. Often anxiety
attacks are triggered from such medical conditions like the Thyroid Disorder or Diabetes. Apart from these, a regular ingestion of artificial
steroids or hormones or even decongestants can very well lead to an increase in anxiety attacks. Therefore, if you really are suffering from
anxiety disorders which regularly threaten to go out of hand, then it is probably high time that you consulted a doctor. Treat these attacks as a
medical problem rather than something of an abnormal disorder.
However, there is no reason to lose heart completely. Although anxiety disorders are never completely curable, they can definitely be brought
under control through certain methods. Do consider going on medication if conditions like these persist. A better quality of life is something
everyone desires. However, apart from medications there are a certain number of fundamental steps that you can take to reduce the intensity of
your anxiety attacks.
The first and foremost thing which you must do is exercise regularly. Regular physical exertion works wonders against anxiety disorders. Try to
maintain a healthy diet with lots of natural products. Try to completely avoid caffeine and alcohol. Also, it is very important to always
get a good night of sleep. Calming the mind is needed if you want to resist that onslaught of anxiety attack. Therefore try and get into a
practice of meditation. Routine meditation for a certain amount of time each day will invariably affect your life for good. Try and be physically
as relaxed as possible all the time.
Unnecessary tension is the root of all evil. If your anxiety attacks seem to be going out of hand, then over-the-counter medicine consumption
should also be strictly monitored as well. Always consult your doctor regarding the same, because these medicines might be responsible for your
anxiety attacks as well.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy or CBT is another non-medicinal method through which you might try to bring your anxiety attacks under control. It
usually involves therapy sessions within a time frame of 12 to 20 weeks. These sessions might be in a group or they might be individual as your
situation demands. CBT sessions will definitely help you to get rid of maladaptive or harmful thinking and behavioral tendencies.
But most importantly, reach out to your family and friends so that they can offer you the support system to lean back upon in case any of the
above methods dont work. Anxiety attacks are not completely curable, but with certain simple steps you can always bring it under your control.
